It was a dark and cold night. High up on a building stood a shadow — a mysterious woman, an assassin, lying in wait. She watched carefully, waiting for her target to show his face at the window. She pulled off her mask, which had been suffocating her, revealing a beautiful and serene face. She had long black hair, striking blue eyes, and was dressed entirely in black. She crouched down to stay out of sight and began to take out her surveillance equipment, but she was quickly interrupted.

Her coworker appeared, her cheeks stuffed full of sweets. Her name was Mery; she had rose-colored hair and wore bright, eye-catching blue clothes. She greeted the woman watching the window.

“Heyyy, I’m here, babe! How’s the surveillance going? Has he shown up yet?” Mery asked.

“If he had shown up, do you really think I’d still be standing here watching?” the woman replied sharply.

“Wow… someone’s in a mood, Layla. You’re so rude,” Mery pouted.

“Shhh! Don’t say my name, you idiot! Do you want them to find out who I am? We’re assassins — we have to keep everything a secret,” Layla hissed.

“Alright, alright… I got it. Sheesh…” Mery replied.

Mery, the pink-haired girl, invited Layla out to a bar to celebrate another successful day. But Layla firmly refused — she had other things to take care of. Mery looked visibly upset and pulled a cute little face, her cheeks turning red with disappointment. Seeing how adorable she looked, Layla gave in and agreed to go with her. Mery’s face lit up instantly with joy.

When they arrived at the bar Mery had mentioned, Layla hesitated at the door. But when she saw Mery already sitting at the counter waiting for her, she took a deep breath and walked in.

Mery was surprised to see Layla out of her usual uniform. She noticed Layla was wearing a suit — something that definitely didn’t fit the casual vibe of the place. Mery smiled mischievously and greeted her cheerfully, then jumped up and practically threw herself at Layla. Layla was taken aback, flustered and startled by the sudden affection.

Truth be told, Layla had feelings for Mery, but she kept them deeply hidden. She was convinced that if Mery ever found out, she would pull away and leave her. What Layla didn’t know, however, was that Mery was just as in love with her — and she feared exactly the same thing.

They sat together at the bar counter and ordered drinks from the bartender. They were chatting happily when a drunk man stumbled over and tried to touch Mery. Layla stepped in immediately, grabbing the man’s wrist firmly. Furious, the man pulled a knife from his pocket. Layla didn’t even stand up or change her expression. As he lunged forward, she knocked him out cold with barely any effo
